Mindful Yoga is suitable for men and women of all ages, ability and beliefs. Everyone is welcome and no experience is required. So, young or old, agile or stiff, yoga helps you to be the best version of yourself.

Stimulate your body, calm your heart and relax that brain! Mindful Yoga helps to improve vitality, muscle tone, posture, balance, digestion, sleeping habits, hormonal issues, coordination, concentration, breathing and can offer a deep sense of inner calmness. It's also fun! In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you will learn yoga postures (Asanas); breathing techniques (Pranayama); simple Chi Gong movements and short meditations that you can easily practise at home. Each class balances effort and ease with a focus on improving your core strength and flexibility while deepening the connection you have to yourself. You will learn many movements and techniques to help you integrate your body, mind and heart in the present. It's when you're not distracted by memories from the past or concerned about imaginations of the future, that true healing can happen.

All of the postures and movements are taught in several stages, with a range of adaptions so you can always find the right level for you. There is no competition - we simply tune into ourselves. A mindful approach runs throughout the class, further helping you to be as aware as possible of yourself in each moment and to practice at your own pace, however fast or slow you sense that to be (and this can differ from week to week, which gives us great practice in staying curious and repeatedly tuning in!). 

My aim is to encourage, empower and support you to help you feel both comfortable and increasingly confident in both stillness and in movement. Clear instructions and, only if you wish, occasional hands-on adjustments will assist you in moving from and significantly strengthening your core structure and ensuring you work safely with correct alignment. You can always choose your own challenge. Leave the past behind, let go of the future and just be :-)

If you can’t attend your normal class, it may be possible to visit a different class that week if spaces are free. Please always check with me first. I try to make the courses accessible and offer, where possible, some concession places. Each time you book a course, you receive a loyalty card entitling you to 10% off any 1-2-1 appointment eg. Shiatsu Massage , 1-2-1 private classes of yoga, meditation and chi gong or a gift voucher.

There is now wide ranging scientific evidence claiming that Yoga has many positive health benefits, such as decreasing anxiety, depression, pain, cardiovascular, autoimmune and immune conditions and reducing symptoms and stress during pregnancy.

A major systematic review of 10 scientific studies and a total of nearly 1000 chronic low back pain patients concluded that yoga significantly reduced low back pain and functional disability (Cramer et al 2013). Another major study reported a decrease in functional disability measures, pain intensity and depression scores in people practicing yoga (Williams et al 2009).  Yoga has also been shown to be effective for war veterans suffering low back pain by decreasing pain and significantly improving energy levels and mental health after only a 10 week programme (Groessl et al 2012).  Why not come along and see for yourself what yoga has to offer?
